An engagement ring is the ultimate promise one can give their partner. It is a physical representation of love and commitment. There’s no better act of love than confessing that two people want to spend the rest of their lives with each other. When shopping for engagement rings, statistics show that 84 per cent of the buyers will go to at least one jeweller before fixing the purchase. The other 20 per cent will visit at least four before making their decision.
However, back in the day, there were only a few choices available for the rings into consideration. Now, with thousands of designs and dozens of precious stones, it is nearly a cumbersome task to go shopping for one. With the costs to consider, different jewellers to choose from and the need for everything to be just right, ring purchase can be overwhelming.
Before Buying a Ring:
- Budget: Make sure the funds are in order, to afford the right engagement rings. Most of the customers usually save a month or few of their salaries for the purchase.
- Have An Idea: About the ring size and the partner’s sense of fashion. They can help the buyer track down a ring suited to their partners. Knowledge of their partner’s ring size will help in buying a ring that fits perfectly.
- Be Unique: Don’t blindly follow the common trend in case of purchasing a ring. A good band should be a timeless symbol of commitment to the partner. It should be as unique as them, fashionable but at the same time a classic design.
- Be Direct: It’s better to work directly with the jewellers while buying or customising an engagement ring
- Advice: Before buying a ring, one needs all the advice they can get. They can start with their own family, friends and even their partner to get the right idea and plan.
- Price: The right ring doesn’t necessarily mean expensive. Buy a band that would go perfect with the partner and not just because it had a reasonable price.
- Warranty or Insurance: Better to insure something so expensive in case the unimaginable happens. Make sure the jeweller has such policies that enable insurance of the ring along with the purchase.
Considering The Partner:
- Personal Style: Every partner has a style or aesthetic that they naturally gravitate. This style is a cue to the design that would be perfect for them. It could be in the type of dress they wear and the type of ornaments or shoes they choose. Their style of wear usually gives away the ideal design for a ring.
- Occupation: Are they working? If so, do they work in areas that require hands-on experience? If that’s the case, a non-protruding ring is an option. If they play sports, it’s better to buy one that won’t interfere with their wear and play choice. Any jewellery should be comfortable to wear, and it’s something that will be on their hands for a majority of their lives.
- Consider Their Opinion: Partners may have a separate opinion on what type of rings they want. If they do, consider that. Some may have family heirlooms passed down from generation to generation, and others may require the surprise of a unique one. Knowing what partners want is another step closer to buying a perfect ring for them.
